This thesis is about teenage motherhood and its complexities. It focuses on the creative inquiry: “How can a video-documented performance of stitching be a portrait and narration of teenage pregnancy and motherhood?” To answer that, this thesis will reveal the stigma experienced by teenage mothers and the gendered notions of this experience. The result is a video-documented performance of stitching that serves as a portrayal of motherhood. For representation, I also added a layer of narration done by other teenage mothers.
