Romina Sanuco
LAYA: Stitching memories, a pathway to heal
60 in x 82 in, Textile, 2021

Romina Sanuco’s thesis work is an installation referencing a traumatic childhood experience through the intervention of the indexical objects of the said experience. The concept of the work was hugely influenced by the taboo implications of being a victim of sexual abuse, thus it kept her from openly telling her story. Her work shows how remembering is a vital process of healing and is comparable to the repetitive act of needle punching in embroidery.
