Francisco C. Coching IV’s thesis work is a sculptural full-body figure depicted with Expressionist style. He utilized anatomical distortions, body language, facial expression, and surface treatment as visual metaphors to portray the mental and bodily harm caused by his compulsive behavior and psychological anxiety. The choice of masking tape as the sculpting material is reflective of his compulsive, processual practice of art-making. He translated his repetitive compulsive behavior onto a contemporary material and created a new technique in sculpting with this material's specific properties.
